There have been dramatic scenes on Racecourse Road on Tuesday after a Range Rover crashed into a pole.

A 30-year-old man has since been arrested and the bomb squad was briefly called.

Paul alerted 3AW Drive to the news at Kensington on Tuesday afternoon.

“Police won’t say what’s happened, but traffic is blocked in both directions,” he said.

Police said the car reportedly crashed into a pole at Kensington about 12.30pm.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found a firearm and a suspicious item.

The Bomb Response Unit attended the scene to inspect the item and deemed it no threat.

A 30-year-old Taylors Hill man was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
