RACV angers Sydney Road locals with suggestion to remove on-street parking

The RACV wants on-street parking removed from Sydney Road.
The peak motoring body says the road fails all road users, motorists and tram passengers – suffering the slowest off-peak travel times in Melbourne.
It claims the street is also unsafe for cyclists and pedestrians.
The club wants on-street parking permanently removed and replaced with platform tram stops, wider footpaths and separated bike lanes.
‘Something has to be done,’ Dave Jones, Manager of Roads and Traffic at RACV, told Ross and John.
But the idea has angered locals.
3AW Breakfast was immediately flooded with calls from residents, who rubbished the idea.
