RUMOUR CONFIRMED: The RACV in partnership with Thrifty have entered the car share market.

The Rumour File heard a major motoring organisation was intending to enter the ride sharing market.

Speaking on 3AW Breakfast, RACV General Manager of Public Policy, Thanuja Gunatilake said the RACV has entered the market to provide consumers more convenient travel options.

‘In response to the fact if you’re in the central city, owning and operating a car can be quite expensive and residential parking can be hard to find’ she said.

With ride share, consumers are driven to their destination by a driver whereas car share essentially operates as short term car hire. Cars can be hired by the hour or daily.

‘With car share, it’s a fleet of cars that are made available, you can book them anytime 24 hours a day’.
