Prized Icon has taken out this year’s Group 1 AAMI Victoria Derby worth $1.5 million.

Trained by James Cummings, grandson of legendary trainer Bart, the long-shot proved far too strong for favourite Sacred Elixir on the famous Flemington straight.

Inference finished third.

Racegoers were met with simply glorious conditions on Saturday, with 25 degrees the top.

More than 90,000 people flocked to Flemington for the occasion.
