Rail union has given no notification of a strike, says PT Minister
The rail union will not strike any time soon, despite fury over the sacking of five workers.
Union head Luba Grigorovitch refused to rule out the drastic measure on 3AW on Tuesday morning.
But Victoria’s Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allen told Nick McCallum there’s been no notice of such a move.
‘I’ve not had any notification,’ Ms Allen said.
‘There are various requirements of notification to go through before there is any disruption to the network.’
Ms Allen said it would be ‘wrong’ and ‘highly inappropriate’ to cause disruption to the public transport system at this time of year.
The Minister also said that Victoria would not rush through legislation to legalise ride-sharing service Uber despite other states beginning to do so.
‘We need to make sure what is done here is right for Victoria.’
