Rapid antigen COVID-19 testing for Victorian school students may be ditched within weeks.

Since school resumed onsite a week ago, outbreaks in the education system have remained stable.

About 800 school employees — approximately one per cent of the workforce — have been infected.

No schools have had to close due to outbreaks.

President of the Victorian Association of State Secondary Principals, Colin Axup, says the start of the school year was smoother than expected.

“It started pretty well, given the stresses going into it,” he told Ross and Russel.

“There’s been no follow up issues at the moment about ongoing (RAT) supply.”
