Re-elected Premier praises ‘progressive’ Victoria in triumphant victory speech

Re-elected Daniel Andrews has appeared alongside his wife Cath and their three children in his home electorate of Mulgrave, to give an elated victory speech.

“Overwhelmingly the people of Victoria have endorsed a positive and optimistic plan for the future,” Mr Andrews said to a raucous crowd.

“The people of Victoria have, in record numbers, rejected the low road of fear and division.

“For that I am very, very proud.

“Friends, we are the most progressive government in the nation.

“We are the most progressive state in the nation.”

The crowd erupted in laughter as Mr Andrews wished Matthew Guy the best for “whatever the future may hold”.

Mr Andrews also thanked “all the members of the trade union movement”.
