‘Real worry’ after glitch sees hundreds of drones plunge into Yarra River

There’s “significant and real worry” after hundreds of drones plunged into the Yarra River over the weekend due to a mysterious technical glitch.

The drones were supposed to be part of a light show before the Matildas game against France.

Divers were deployed on Sunday to retrieve the devices but many are still believed to be in the water.

Yarra River Keeper Charlotte Sterrett says “this is a significant and real worry for the river”.

“We’ll certainly be speaking with the authorities.”
