Reason Party leader Fiona Patten has explained changes to parliamentary rules that previously would have allowed Matthew Guy’s chief of staff to be paid as much as $100,000 by a political donor, as long as it was declared.

The rules now state a maximum donation is just over $4000.

“Prior to that, there was no limit,” Ms Patten said.
