Reckless driver forces pedestrians out of the way
Pedestrians have narrowly avoided being hit after the driver of a car mounted a busy city footpath to escape from police.
Police were called around 6.30pm following reports of a white BMW sporting stolen number plates being driven erratically.
When police attempted to intercept the driver in Flinders Street, near Swanston Street, it’s alleged he reversed into the police car and then mounted the footpath.
Pedestrians had to jump out of the way as the driver took off.
The car was later found abandoned in a car park off Hardware Lane.
No one was injured and no arrests have been made.
