Almost 300 people dying on Victorian roads is ‘one of the great failures’ in our society this year.

Victoria’s road toll has hit a 15-year-old high in 2023, with 296 fatalities so far this year compared to 239 at the same time in 2022.

“One of the great failures and tragedies of this year has been the Victorian road toll,” Nick McCallum said on 3AW Drive.

Nick also said he didn’t understand why there was so much road rage, while also being left dumbfounded at the amount of people not wearing seat belts while in the car.

Former VicRoads CEO David Anderson said there were a number of ways to help lower the road toll, including doubling demerit points and changing speed limits.
