Regional Victorian GP charged with sexual assault after images found
A GP in Victoria’s north-east has been charged with sexual assault after a number of inappropriate images of women were located by police.
A woman who visited a practice in Wangaratta for a female health test in October last year, told police the GP conducted the examination without surgical gloves.
While in the room, she also noticed what appeared to be camera equipment.
Police raided the 68-year-old doctor’s home, seizing a camera and computer equipment.
A number of inappropriate images of female patients were found.
The man has been suspended from practising at the Ely Street Clinic and has been charged with sexual assault and capture intimate image.
He’s been bailed to face court in September.
After cross checking the date and time stamp on the images with the GP’s appointment records at the clinic, further victims have been identified.
Detectives will be contacting those women during a four day period between today and June 15.
All victims are female and reside in the Wangaratta area.
At this time police do not believe the man shared the images with anyone else.
