‘Rejected’: Eddie McGuire denied entry to WA for AFL grand final
Former Collingwood president and media personality Eddie McGuire has been denied entry into WA to cover the AFL grand final.
McGuire told Perth radio station, 6PR, he applied for a G2G pass to come to Perth and work on various AFL broadcasts during grand final week, after the league confirmed yesterday the season decider would be at Optus Stadium.
The 56-year-old said his application was rejected by WA police, but he will reapply.
“I applied for a G2G application or a permit to come in to work and cover the grand final, and it was rejected,” he said.
“I have probably got two days to apply again, otherwise the timing starts to get into grand final week.
“If the Western Australian Police chief says: no we don’t think you are essential, then I cop that and I don’t have any protest what so ever.
“I think that I qualify.”
There were reports McGuire had applied for his two sons to enter the state to work with him, which McGuire says are false.
