Remembrance Day 2016: Anniversaries coincide as Australians mark November 11
Australians will observe one minute’s silence at 11am to mark Remembrance Day in memory of those who died or suffered in wars and armed conflicts.
Battle historian Mat McLachlan says there are three important anniversaries which have coincided this year
‘We’ve got the 100th anniversary of the First World War battle, the 75th anniversary of World War II and then also the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam battle,’ he said.
‘So it’s a really important time for commemoration for all of these battles.’
The service begins at 10.30am at the Shrine of Remembrance.
