Renewed calls for an ‘opt-out’ organ donation system

Jacqui Felgate

Tom Elliott has supported renewed calls for an ‘opt-out’ organ donation system in Australia.

Such a system would assume a person is prepared to donate their organs unless they request otherwise.

The call follows the release of a new book by the CEO of Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation, Allan Turner.

The book, Chasing Rainbows, aims to facilitate the conversation around organ donation within families.

‘If you can save a life at the end of your life, it’s a fantastic gift,’ Mr Turner said on Monday.
