Report reveals the record number of Australians living alone
A new report from the Australian Institute of Family Studies has found there has been an increase in Australians living alone with over a quarter of households occupied by one person.
Economist and property consultant, Joey Maloney, says the increase can be contributed to a range of factors including decrease in the number of relationships.
“Younger people aren’t entering relationships with the same amount of propensity that they once did, so you’re getting a lot of young people in their twenties and early thirties still single, and share-housing starts to look increasingly unattractive,” he told Tom Elliott.
