Rescued fishermen blame weather app: Kayaker Jim with Neil Mitchell
It was all the app’s fault.
That’s the story kayaker Jim is sticking with after he and a mate had to be rescued off Point Wilson in last night’s ferocious winds.
‘We checked on the app!’ Jim told Neil Mitchell, defending his decision to go fishing despite a severe weather warning.
‘It said (the wind) was dying to 20km/h.
‘When we went out there it was flat like a lake.
‘Next time we’ll get more opinions on the weather.’
Jim was tipped out of his boat in a three-metre swell, losing his fishing gear and flathead.
‘I was praying the whole time.’
