Research reveals who is at highest risk of developing flesh-eating ulcer
A new study has revealed two groups of people are at elevated risk of developing the flesh-eating Buruli ulcer.
The research found the rate of diabetes among people with the ulcer was double the rate in the control group, and the ulcers are also more common among tradies working with soil.
Infectious diseases physician at the Austin Hospital, Professor Paul Johnson, says “virtually everyone gets it from mosquito bites”.
