Research shows friendships are important for mental health

Despite all the ways to stay ‘connected’ in the modern age, middle-aged men still find it hard to maintain friendships.

Rhett Corker from the Movember Foundation told Tom Elliott research says friendships are important for mental health.

‘Staying connected is critical, particularly for men,’ Mr Corker said.

‘Social isolation and not being connected can have detriments to your health.’

Mr Corker said entering middle age provides several barriers to maintaining friendships, including finishing sporting careers.
