Dating a bot: Researcher makes bold prediction about the future of relationships
People will soon be having affairs with computers, according to a Cambridge University AI expert.
Research associate at the Centre for the Future of Intelligence at Cambridge University, Henry Shevlin, says artificial intelligence is progressing at a staggering rate, and personalised chatbot services will be offered in the near future.
“Think about all the people who currently have long-distance romances mainly conducted via email or live chat, or web chat, and just imagine that the person at the the end of the phone isn’t a person at all — in fact, you’re talking to a chatbot, to an AI,” he told Ross and Russel.

“Whereas a lot of people spend lots of dollars and lots of time trying to get noticed by their sort of dream model on OnlyFans, in these cases the AI will be totally personalised to your needs, your interests … which is why it’s tempting and why it may be dangerous.”
