Resident describes dramatic rescue of young woman trapped after horror Glenroy crash

Tom Elliott

A good Samaritan has described the moment he came to the aid of a young woman trapped in the wreckage of a car that had ‘split in two’ following a horror crash this morning.

Police allege a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman may have been involved in an illegal street race this morning before her car crashed into a tree on Plumpton Avenue, Glenroy.

Allen Enright was asleep when he was woken up by a ‘rocketing noise’ near his home.

‘There was a car literally in half, smoke billowing out of it,’ he told Neil Mitchell.

The young woman was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating.
