Residents furious as council makes ‘disgusting’ private security funding decision

Residents in Melbourne’s west are furious after a local council opted to use ratepayer money to fund private security.

The City of Wyndham this week voted to spend almost $400,000 in hiring private security to patrol Truganina.

Shaun, who lives in the area, said he couldn’t understand the local council’s “disgusting” decision.

“It’s just disgusting,” Shaun told 3AW Drive.

“I’ve lived (in the area) for nearly 15 years and the council continues to cry poor and say it can’t do basic things in the area … yet it’ll go waste money (funding private security).”

The story was brought up on 3AW Breakfast’s Rumour File on Wednesday morning, and was confirmed after Jacqui Felgate broke the story on her show!
