VicRoads is setting up a new warning system at the Montague Street bridge after this week’s spectacular bus crash.

Eleven people were hospitalised when a bus slammed into the bridge on Monday.

A truck hit it last night.

John Merritt from VicRoads told Neil Mitchell a team inspected the site yesterday and will take immediate action.

New measures on approach:

  • More flashing lights
  • A gantry with warning flaps

Mr Merritt said VicRoads will also assess the viability of lowering the road.
