Richard Wynne says government will pursue VCAT action against Corkman pub demolishers
Those responsible for the illegal demolition of a historic pub in Carlton have told the Victorian Government they will rebuild it.
But State Planning Minister Richard Wynne says they can think again if they’re doing it to avoid legal action.
The ‘cowboy’ developers sparked outrage when they knocked down the Corkman Irish Pub earlier this month.
It led to calls for harsh legal action.
But they’ve since sent a letter to the government saying the hotel would be rebuilt.
Tom Elliott questioned whether they had done that to soften their punishment.
‘We’re not going to withdraw the VCAT action,’ Richard Wynne said.
