Richmond ace Chris Newman says North Melbourne ‘sledge board’ a ‘stitch-up’
Richmond champ Chris Newman has laughed off suggestions the Tigers had a ‘sledge board’ to use against North Melbourne last week which they plan on using again in Sunday’s elimination final.
Sunday’s do-or-die clash gained a little more spice this week when a whiteboard covered in personal sledges and ‘team advice’ found its way into the hands of the media.
Newman told 3AW it was clearly a stitch-up.
‘I didn’t know what all the fuss was until I saw it on the website,’ Newman told Sports Today.
‘I think the cleaner or the janitor was having a bit of fun there.
‘They’d be pretty happy with themselves at the moment, getting a bit of exposure.’
But Gerard Healy wasn’t letting Newman off that easily.
‘I’m told you write some of the stuff on the whiteboard!’ he said with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Newman also returned serve to former Tiger Matthew Richardson, who had some choice words about Newman’s fashion sense before the interview!
