Richmond must explore new player positions: Lloyd
For Richmond to reach the finals this season, it will take a mammoth effort similar to that of season 2014 where the Tigers won their last nine games to reach the top eight.
It is quite unlikely to happen again.
Looking ahead to the back end of the year, Matthew Lloyd believes it is time to really find out about the quality of Richmond’s list, even it it means losing a game or two along the way.
‘I would prefer to drop games, by finding out about players in different roles,’ Lloyd said on Sports Today.
‘It might be playing Rioli in a certain role… They’ve just got to find out about those guys, even if it costs them wins.’
Sitting on four wins with a low percentage, the Tigers haven’t reached the heights they expected to this year.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has maintained the list quality throughout the difficult stages this season, but Lloyd doesn’t agree.
‘I think they’ve overrated their list for far too long.’
