Richmond’s iconic Nylex clock and sign will remain as part of a 1 billion dollar redevelopment project.

Following a two year battle seeking heritage approval, developer Caydon has been given the green light to redevelop the silo site, which will include apartments and a retail complex.

The plans will see the sign restored and placed on top of a 15-level apartment tower, with the majority of the silos on-site being retained.

Caydon’s Senior Development Manager, Georgia Willis, told 3AW News the heritage of the site will be protected.

‘The existing silos, we are keeping a high majority of them, nine in total, and particularly the ones that support the Nylex sign’.
