Western Ring Road mess: Lanes re-opened after fishy clean-up

A fishy mess on the Western Ring Road has caused traffic chaos across Melbourne this morning.
The fatty spill, which came from garbage truck that rolled over about 5.30AM, has now been cleared.
Greensborough-bound lanes of the ring road re-opened about midday.
But that came after six hours of the busy arterial being completely shut down heading east at Sydney Road.
Motorists felt the residual pain far and wide.
Sydney Road and Altona-bound lanes of the Ring Road were very bumper-t0-bumper, and surrounding alternatives including Camp Road, Mahoneys Road and Pascoe Vale Road were very heavy.
