Rishi Sunak to become Britain’s new Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak will be the new British Prime Minister after Boris Johnson and Penny Mordaunt dropped out of the leadership race.

At 42, Mr Sunak is the UK’s youngest prime minister in almost 200 years.

He will be the UK’s third prime minister in four months.

“He is the richest politician in British history,” UK correspondent Enda Brady told Ross and Russel.

“”Between him and his wife they’re worth something in the region of $1.4 billion Australian dollars.

“He certainly knows about money — he’s got enough of it — and he’s got to sort out the finances of the country because Liz Truss has pretty much set fire to the place here for the last six weeks.

“What’s needed is someone to come in, work hard, not cause problems and basically get the message across to the UK that taxes are going to go up, there’s going to be a lot less public spending because frankly the government just doesn’t have any money.”
