Risk of terrorism attack ‘realistic’ as experts worry about Israel-Hamas radicalisation

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) has warned of a realistic threat of a terrorist attack in the next twelve months.

Director of Strategic Analysis Australia, Peter Jennings says the Israel-Hamas war has “probably” increased the risk of terrorism in Australia.

“I do think [the protests] this is creating an environment for people to radicalise and I suspect that’s what Mike Burgess – the head of ASIO, is concerned about,” he told Tom Elliott.

He says while some people may be concerned about the political situation in Gaza.

“There are hardcore extremists leading these protests movements,” he claimed.
