Risky revelers ring in New Years under Nylex clock

A group of young people have risked their safety for the ultimate view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks, climbing the abandoned Nylex building in Richmond and watching from under the iconic clock.
The group “Abandoned Melbourne”, took photos of themselves at the site and posted them to Facebook.
They say more than 20 people were on the rooftop around 9pm, but that number grew to more than 70 by midnight.
Caller John told Nick McCallum it conflicted with what the public had been told about increased police presence in the city.
“I found it interesting with all the safety and security going on in the city, a group were up on top of the Nylex clock doing some ‘urban exploring’,” he said.

The group stated online that they “Do not encourage others to do what we do. We post for the interest of others and to leave the risks to us”.
