Rita Panahi ruffles feathers with criticism of traditional Christmas food

Rita Panahi has caused quite a stir with her assessment of traditional Christmas food.

The Herald Sun columnist told Nick McCallum she won’t be serving her guests mince pies this festive season.

Here are some of Rita’s comments about traditional fare:

• Mince Pies: ‘To me, it’s punishment.’
• Turkey: ‘Ordinary bird.’
• Glazed Ham: ‘It looks nice, I don’t think it adds much to the taste.’

She said she’d rather have food she actually likes on Christmas.
