Herald Sun columnist Rita Panahi, has slammed the call for ‘gender equal’ walking signs, calling the idea ‘utterly absurd’.

‘This is what you do when you are actually no longer marginalised, you start looking for things where you are cast as the victim.’

Rita said the overwhelming majority of women in the community feel that they are treated as equals.

‘We are not downtrodden in Melbourne, we should be proud of that.’
