Rita Panahi slams hospitals cashing in on sick people and their families

Herald Sun columnist Rita Panahi says we are paying too much money for the simple things at hospitals like parking and free-to-air TV.

Rita discovered Epworth hospital charges $60 for four hours parking.

‘That is a really significant cost, there are some discounts available for some long term patients, but you have to meet the criteria to qualify.’

She’s told Nick McCallum it’s not good enough – ‘You can’t take advantage of people who are sick, or the loved ones of sick people.’

Some patients are paying upwards of $10 per day to watch TV from their hospital beds.

‘That is taking advantage of a captive audience.’ ? Rita told 3AW Drive.
