Roadworker hit by car and killed in Melbourne’s inner-east
A roadworker has been hit and killed by a car in Melbourne’s inner-east overnight.
Major Collision Investigation Unit at Victoria Police, Senior Sergeant Christian Von Tunk, shed light on what led to the fatal collision.

The man was working on the Eastern Freeway near Hoddle Street in Clifton Hill when he was struck by a Toyota sedan around 12:15am.
He was taken to hospital but police confirmed the man has since died.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and the 27-year-old driver of the Toyota has been arrested.
The Eastern Freeway is closed outbound at Hoddle Street with traffic being diverted via Wellington Street, Heidelberg Road to the Chandler Highway.
