Rockliff backs rule changes that protect players’ heads
Tom Rockliff has thrown his support behind rule changes that protect players’ heads.
The Brisbane skipper told Sports Today he prefers to leave the rules alone, but knows players have a long life after football to consider.
‘I love the way footy was played 10 years ago,’ Rockliff said on Wednesday.
‘I’m a bit old-school when it comes to rule changes. I think if you’ve got a game that works then there’s no point changing.’
But Rockliff said seeing players being forced into retirement due to concussion is ‘scary’.
‘It is only a small part of life… you want to make sure you can grow old and remember your kids.’
