Roger Federer defeats Rafael Nadal in classic Australian Open final

Roger Federer has won the Australian Open final in a classic against Rafael Nadal.

The long-running rivals fought out a five-set epic at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday night.

Federer came back from a break down in the final set to win a record 18th grand slam title.

It was Federer’s first grand slam win since 2012.

At 35, he became the oldest winner of the tournament since 1972.

It followed Serena Williams’ win over older sister Venus in the women’s final on Saturday night.
