Ross and John’s trip to Nashville US have them questioning the etiquette of tipping!

According to research from OpenTable, only 1 in 5 Australians frequently leave a tip when dining out, with 80% of us find tipping confusing.

Masterchef’s Matt Preston has told 3AW Breakfast, you should let your heart decide.

“I always leave a tip.,” he told Ross and John.

“I think the size of the tip depends on the service and if the service is terrible then you’ve got every right not to leave a tip.”

However pocketing the tip is a big no-go for Matt.

“The main thing not to do is when you take control of the bill, charge everyone a tip and then not put a tip down. And that’s also surprisingly common.”

Tune into Masterchef on Sunday night to get Ross and John’s code word, and then listen to 3AW Breakfast during the week for your chance to win a bundle of groceries from Coles.
