Ross and John open nominations for Australian of the Year

There is still a bit of 2015 left to go, but Australia Day will be here before you know it.

So, Ross and John have decided to open nominations for Australian of the Year.

3AW Breakfast callers suggested everyone from Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne to Neale Daniher ? even Denis Walter got a mention!

But it was the nomination of Julian Wilson ? the surfer that swam back to help Mick Fanning while being attacked by a shark ? that emerged as the early favourite.

‘Geeeee? That’s an excellent nomination,’ Ross said.
