The debate about whether plastic bags should be banned in Victorian supermarkets has been reignited.

ACT and South Australia have banned single use plastic bags. 

Is it time for Victoria to follow suit?

Ross and John put it to the people – should plastic bags be banned from supermarkets? 59% said no, 41% said yes.

Greens MP Nina Springle said Australia was falling behind other countries.

‘It doesn’t break down, it can take hundreds of years to break down,’ she said.

‘What we are hearing now from scientists is that our bays and and our seas and our oceans are full of these tiny plastics.’
