A hive with approximately 50,000 bees has been stolen from a Coburg house.

Police have been told the 40 kilogram hive was pinched from the Marks Street yard sometime last weekend.

At least two people would be required to move the hive, which is white with the letters H257 marked in black letters.

‘The hive would have been full of honey and ready to harvest, so it would be pretty valuable,’ Constable Joe Morris told Ross and John.

‘I can’t believe that somebody in the street wouldn’t have seen two people in full beekeeping gear removing the hive.’

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
