Ross Greenwood with Josh Frydenberg

Ross Greenwood speaks to Federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg about the independent review into Australia’s energy security, following last week’s blackout in South Australia.

Mr Frydenberg has met with various minister’s about the blackout.

He says it was a weather event that caused the blackout, rather than a renewable energy event.?

‘The preliminary advice to us is that it was a weather event, a one in 50 year event  which saw 80 thousand lightning strikes in one day,’ he said.

‘It was a terrible event.’

The blackout resulted in 1.7 million people going into the dark.
