Ross Greenwood with Paul Bloxham
Ross Greenwood speaks to Paul Bloxham the Chief Economist at HSBC about the employment numbers.
The unemployment rate, despite rising to 5.7% on the seasonally adjusted number, has stayed flat on the trend number.
Paul Bloxham says the decision to raise interest rates has been solidified by these figures.
‘The more the Fed is on that path to lifting interest rates, the more downward pressure it’s likely to put on the Aussie dollar,’ he said.
‘That improves our competitiveness.’
