Ross’s view on Daniil Medvedev’s emotional press conference story
Daniil Medvedev opened his press conference after last night’s loss to Rafael Nadal with an emotional story.
In a four and a half minute spiel, the Russian tennis star said “the kid has stopped dreaming”.
“I’m not going to really tell why, so from now on I’m playing for myself, for my family – to provide (for) my family, for the people that trust in me, and of course for all the Russians because I feel a lot of support there,” he said.
“If there is a tournament on hard courts in Moscow before Roland Garros or Wimbledon, I’m going to go there, even if I miss Wimbledon or Roland Garros.”
It came after Medvedev clashed with the crowd, who cheered his faults, on several occasions.
Ross says the Russian star’s speech was “really interesting”.
“It’s sort of quite poetic. It’s sad,” the 3AW Breakfast co-host said.
“He’s an interesting dude.”
