More than twelve thousand animal cruelty cases have been reported across Victoria in the past financial year.

The RSPCA has released the list of worst offenders, which sees the City of Casey with the highest number of reports reaching 566 in total.

Other areas named among the worst include:

  • Frankston
  • Cardinia
  • Yarra Ranges

RSPCA Chief Dr Liz Walker says there are examples of limping horses, starving dogs and neglected cats.

‘We really do need to look at the communities to actually shift the dial towards prevention.’

‘So that people are better educated and so we are living with animals better in our community.’

‘We can give them the attention they so very much deserve.’ – Dr Liz Walker told 3AW News.
