RSPCA renews calls to ban the whip in thoroughbred racing
The RSPCA says new research shows the majority of Australians want to see whips in horse racing banned.
The animal welfare organisation’s CEO Heather Neil said a new survey shows about 50 percent of Australians watch or bet on racing at least once and year, and most would continue to watch if the whip isn’t used.
‘I think that’s a really telling statistic,’ she said.
‘(Punters) don’t need to see a whip being used at all.’
