RUMOUR CONFIRMED: Axe-wielding thieves smash their way into a bayside bowls club

RUMOUR CONFIRMED: A Bayside bowls club has become the latest victim of Melbourne’s crime wave.

‘CLEVER DUDES’ told The Rumour File about a break in at a northern peninsula bowling club last Monday. 

David Zach, Treasurer of the Belvedere Bowls Club confirmed to 3AW Breakfast the club was broken into by brazen axe-wielding thieves.

‘They ripped off the main power board from the wall to go undetected so the alarm wouldn’t sound,’ he told 3AW.

‘They’ve caused a significant amount of damage.’ 

Mr Zach said the damage was caused to the smashed windows, safe and bar.

The thieves allegedly stole around $2000 cash, a debit card and some alcoholic spirits. 

Anthoula Moutis, Victoria Police Sergeant said a 24-year-old man and a 40-year-old man from Frankston have been charged with burglary and seven counts of obtain property by deception.

The duo will appear before the Frankston Magistrates’ Court in April.
