Rumour confirmed: Council forces closure of disability workshop

Plans by a council in Melbourne’s west have forced the closure of a workshop which provides opportunities for people living with disabilities.

As first reported on The Rumour File, Ross and John heard a workshop with 70 employees is shutting down with just four weeks notice.

“Some of whom have been there for more than 20-30 years,” Caring for the disabled said.

The Endeavour Foundation have since confirmed their facility in Maribyrnong will close by the end of the year.

They say Maribyrnong City Council plans to rezone the area surrounding their site and as a result they will no longer be able to continue operating.
