Rumour confirmed: Fed Square Apple store faces stumbling block, Metro tunnel project stalled
RUMOUR CONFIRMED
A bid to have Federation Square heritage-listed could see the planned Apple store dumped and cause major issues for the Metro tunnel.
The National Trust has made the application, and from today there will be a 60-day ban on construction work while it’s considered.
The construction ban will delay work on the Metro tunnel project.
A visitors centre was to be demolished in coming weeks to make way for the entrance to the new station.\
If the site is registered, buildings could still be demolished but a permit would have to be obtained.
First reports of the move emerged on Ross and John’s Rumour File last Friday.
