RUMOUR CONFIRMED: ‘Hot in the West’ on container fire
RUMOUR CONFIRMED: ‘Hot in the West’ told the Rumour File that a fire occurred on Thursday in a container terminal in the city’s west.
It has been confirmed there was a fire at 2.45pm at DP World Australia in West Melbourne.
A three-storey straddle carrier caught fire, as well as a generator.
Foam was used to control the fire, which staff believe started when hydraulic oil leaked and made contact with a hot component in the engine area.
Worksafe and EPA have been notified and it will be investigated further however 3AW Breakfast has been told no workers needed rescuing.
